Protect Your Finances: A Financial Wellness Workshop with Chase Bank

Protect Your Finances: A Financial Wellness Workshop with Chase Bank

For many older adults living on a fixed income, financial wellness isn't just a nice-to-have — it's the foundation that everything else rests on. Knowing how to spot a scam, manage a budget, and protect hard-earned savings can mean the difference between a secure retirement and a stressful one. That's why Aster is partnering with Chase Bank to bring a special "Protect Your Finances" workshop to both Senior Centers this August.

The Details

Chase Bank representatives will lead a one-hour presentation covering best practices for financial wellness, with a particular focus on the challenges and opportunities that come with managing money later in life. Attend at whichever location works best for you:

  • Mesa Downtown Senior Center — Tuesday, August 18, 10:00 to 11:00 AM
  • Red Mountain Senior Center — Tuesday, August 25, 10:00 to 11:00 AM

Why Financial Wellness Deserves Your Attention

Living on a fixed income changes the math. There's less room to absorb a surprise expense, less time to recover from a financial misstep, and often more exposure to scams that specifically target older adults.

And those scams keep getting harder to spot. Text messages that appear to come from a bank, phone calls that sound just like a family member in distress, romance scams that build trust over weeks or months, and impersonation attempts that mimic government agencies or financial institutions — these tactics have grown more convincing as scammers put new technology, including AI-generated voices and messages, to use. The pressure, urgency, and emotional manipulation behind these schemes are designed to short-circuit good judgment in the moment.

That's exactly why sessions like this one matter. A workshop is a chance to step back and take stock — not because something is wrong, but because a little proactive knowledge goes a long way toward keeping finances secure. Participants can expect practical, real-world guidance: how to recognize red flags, verify a suspicious message before acting on it, and know where to turn if something doesn't feel right.

How to RSVP

Seating is limited, so early sign-up is encouraged. You can reserve your spot by calling your local Senior Center, emailing CBS@asteraz.org, or signing up in person at the Front Desk.
