Because of the very generous support of more community members this year, over 1,200 seniors received gifts.

The holidays were much brighter for older adult participants in all of Aster’s programs, including Meals on Wheels, Neighbors, Home Care, Social Services, and Senior Centers. For our most isolated community members, being remembered by caring community members is even more important, as this may have been the only gift they received.

“We are truly grateful for the outpouring of support this year,” according to Deborah Schaus, Aster CEO. “The thoughtful gifts collected by local clubs, businesses, faith communities, and community members enabled us to almost double the number of older adults who could benefit from this project.”

Aster’s Senior Centers participants were delighted to be helped at their holiday luncheons again this year by volunteers from Mesa Chamber of Commerce, Mesa Rotary Club, Mesa Sunrise Rotary Club, and Santander. The parties were even brighter with placemats and cards made by Mesa High School’s AVID Program, Risen Savior Early Childhood Education Center, the City of Mesa Hispanic Network, and Boeing. Large donations and drives from groups like SavCoins, Las Palmas 55+ Community, and PetSmart helped ensure that we could bring the holiday spirit to more seniors than ever.
