Aster Aging, Inc. ONE OF 38 ORGANIZATIONS RECEIVING GRANT

Aster Aging, Inc. was awarded a $7,500 grant by the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation to fund the Meals on Wheels Program.

This initiative will provide 1,500 additional hot, nutritious home-delivered meals and wellness checks for vulnerable homebound seniors in Mesa, Arizona. The expansion will enable approximately 75 additional older adults to receive weekday meals and safety checks for about one month. The program is intended to reduce hunger, malnutrition, and isolation while improving participants’ safety, health, and ability to remain independent in their own homes.

Aster Aging is dedicated to empowering older adults and their families to remain independent and engaged in the community as they age. Through nutrition services, in-home support, senior center programs, outreach, and social services, Aster works to address food insecurity, isolation, and barriers to healthy aging throughout the East Valley. The organization’s vision is to build a community where older adults are supported with dignity, connection, and access to essential resources.

The food needs in our communities continue to be critical. We are proud to work with the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation to fight hunger.

“We’re proud to recognize this organization as one who shows up every day to fight food insecurity head on,” Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation CEO Julie Waitman states. “The importance of fighting hunger organizations cannot be overstated, and we’re committed to stand alongside them.”

During the 2025-26 fiscal year (June 1, 2025-May 31, 2026), the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation awarded $300,000 to 38 organizations across the U.S. fighting hunger in their communities. This grant marks more than $2.3 million awarded by the Alpha Gamma Delta Foundation in its efforts to help fight hunger across the United States and Canada since 2017.

Established in 1979, Aster Aging, Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving older adults throughout the East Valley. Aster Aging’s mission is to empower and support older adults and their families to remain independent and engaged in their communities. More information is available at asteraz.org.
