How Senior Health Expos Strengthen Community Health

Why Community Health Expos Matter for Seniors and the Organizations That Serve Them

For older adults, accessing reliable health and wellness information can be fragmented, confusing, and overwhelming. Community based health expos exist to address that problem by bringing trusted local resources together in one accessible, welcoming setting.

For more than 20 years, Aster Aging’s Healthy Living Expos have done exactly that, creating a space where seniors can learn, ask questions, and connect directly with organizations that support healthy, independent aging in the East Valley.

A Mission Driven Approach to Senior Wellness

Aster Aging’s Spring Healthy Living Expos are not commercial trade shows. They are community events designed to meet seniors where they are and connect them with credible, relevant resources in a single morning.

Each expo focuses on education, prevention, and quality of life, offering older adults direct access to professionals in health care, housing, caregiving, financial planning, nutrition, mobility, and enrichment services. Seniors attend because they trust Aster Aging and know the information presented is curated with their best interests in mind.

Why These Expos Are Effective for Seniors

Older adults consistently report that face to face interaction is the most valuable way to learn about services. The expo format allows seniors to ask questions, compare options, and build familiarity with providers before a need becomes urgent.

In 2025, more than 600 seniors attended Aster’s Healthy Living Expos across Downtown Mesa and East Mesa. Many return year after year because the events are approachable, informative, and genuinely useful rather than sales driven.

The Role of Community Partners and Service Providers

Organizations that participate in Aster’s Healthy Living Expos can help deliver a public good.

By participating, businesses and service providers ensure that seniors have access to accurate information, local support, and human connection. In return, they benefit from meaningful engagement with a population that is actively seeking resources, delivered in an environment grounded in trust and credibility.

This alignment is intentional. Aster Aging limits participation to organizations whose services directly support senior health, independence, and well being.

Supporting a Nonprofit That Serves 7,600 Seniors Each Year

Proceeds from the Healthy Living Expos support Aster Aging’s nonprofit programs, which impact more than 7,600 seniors annually throughout the East Valley. These programs include nutrition, education, social connection, and resource coordination that help older adults remain active and engaged in their communities.

Participation in the expos is one way community organizations can visibly support that mission while contributing expertise and services that benefit seniors directly.

Thoughtfully Curated Events With Limited Capacity

To maintain quality and accessibility, exhibitor and sponsorship opportunities are limited. This ensures seniors are not overwhelmed and that participating organizations receive meaningful interaction rather than passive foot traffic.
