Sharing the Season: Holidays at Aster Senior Centers
The holiday season carries with it a sense of warmth, tradition, and togetherness. Families gather, recipes come out of well-worn cookbooks, and stories are retold around tables filled with familiar foods. Small rituals, like baking a favorite dessert, writing cards, or sitting down to a special meal, remind us that the past and present are woven together.
The Season of Remembering
As we grow older, the holidays can stir complicated feelings. Alongside the joy, there may be moments of missing loved ones who are no longer at the table, or of thinking back on traditions that have changed over time. For many, the season is as much about remembering as it is about celebrating.
Both can be true at once. Joy and longing often arrive together, and the holidays are a good time to make room for each. Sharing a memory, a recipe, or a story with someone who understands can make the season feel lighter.
Celebrate With Us All November
Aster invites you to share the holidays with us at our Senior Centers all month long in November. The Senior Center is a place where older adults can find friendship, support, and renewed purpose. Whether you come for a meal, join an activity, or simply stop by for conversation, our Senior Centers at Mesa Downtown and Red Mountain offer a welcoming space to connect.
Our Centers are social hubs, with lunchtime meals and a variety of daily activities. Each Center also has a Café, a casual setting to gather with friends and enjoy a snack. Regularly scheduled events include:
- A daily, nutritionally balanced lunch (view the current menu)
- Live music and movies
- Art, exercise, and dance classes
- Education and health and wellness programs
- Bingo games
Staying Connected at Home
Not everyone can get out to a Center, and no one should be left out of the season’s spirit. For homebound older adults, Aster has specialized resources to keep you connected. Through our Neighbors program, volunteers lend a helping hand with errands, phone calls, and companionship, offering meaningful connection and care.
Wherever you spend your holidays this year, Aster is here to remind you that you are not alone.
